Creating virtual machines

If you have been assigned the self_service role to a project in IBM® PowerVC for Private Cloud, you can use a deploy template to create a virtual machine.

To create a virtual machine, follow these steps.
  1. Log in to the appropriate project and open the Deploy Templates page.
  2. Select the deploy template that you want to use and click Deploy. In the page that opens, specify the requested details.
  3. For ibm-default project:
    • Depending on the policies associated with the project, this action might require approval from the administrator or the project manager before it starts. In this case, a request is created. To view the status of your requests, use the Requests area at the top of the PowerVC window.
  4. For projects other than ibm-default:
    • If the deploy template is using a public image, the administrator approval is required for the successful deployment, irrespective of the existing cloud policies. A notification is sent to the administrator.
    • If the deploy template is using a private image, then depending on the policies associated with the project, this action might require administrator or project manager approval before it starts. In this case, a request is created. To view the status of your requests, use the Requests area at the top of the PowerVC window.
