Understanding the log files
The PowerSC GUI server and PowerSC GUI agent both log installation, startup and status information.
Important: The file system space is checked before writing to a log file. Note that
PowerSC GUI server and PowerSC GUI agent do not automatically roll over and manage log
files.
The PowerSC GUI server logs installation, startup, and
status information to the following locations, respectively:
- /var/log/powersc/uiServer/pscUIServer_install.log
- /var/log/powersc/uiServer/pscuiserver_init_timestamp.log
- /var/log/powersc/uiServer/pscuiserver_timestamp.log
The PowerSC GUI agent logs installation, startup, and
status information to the following locations, respectively:
- /var/log/powersc/uiAgent/pscUIAgent_install.log
- /var/log/powersc/uiAgent/pscuiagent_init_timestamp.log
- /var/log/powersc/uiAgent/pscuiagent_timestamp.log
Commands such as pscxpert can also write to command-specific log files. These log files are described in the relevant command sections.
The PowerSC GUI server also writes database information in subdirectories of /opt/powersc/uiServer.
Syslog output
In addition to the log files described in this section, PowerSC components such as Trusted Network Connect (TNC) and PowerSC Real Time Compliance write to syslog output.
