Plugging rules for memory in the 8408-44E or 8408-E8E system
Find information about the configurations and rules that apply to memory for the 8408-44E or 8408-E8E system. This information helps you to
install memory in the system.
Figure 1 shows the locations of the memory
for the 8408-44E or 8408-E8E system and Table 1 provides information about the plugging
rules for the memory in the 8408-44E or 8408-E8E
system.Figure 1. Memory locations in the 8408-44E or 8408-E8E
system
The following table lists the feature codes of memory that are supported on the 8408-44E or 8408-E8E system:
Supported feature codes (FC)
Size
FC EM86
16 GB CDIMM DDR3
FC EM87
32 GB CDIMM DDR3
FC EM88
64 GB CDIMM DDR3
FC EM8P
16 GB CDIMM DDR4
FC EM8Q
32 GB CDIMM DDR4
FC EM8R
64 GB CDIMM DDR4
FC EM8S
128 GB CDIMM DDR4
Note: To determine if your memory cards have the same feature code, compare the part
numbers of the memory cards that are installed in the system to the memory cards being installed. If
you need more help, contact your next level of support.
Notes:
The 8408-44E or 8408-E8E system supports
memory of 16 GB, 32 GB, 64 GB, and 128 GB.
Memory pairs must be identical and can be different from the other pairs of memory.
The 8408-44E or 8408-E8E system with 2 processors
installed has 16 available memory slots.
The 8408-44E or 8408-E8E system with 3 processors
installed has 24 available memory slots.
The 8408-44E or 8408-E8E system with 4 processors
installed has 32 available memory slots.
The mixing of DDR3 and DDR4 memory in the system is not allowed.
The DDR4 memory modules must be at the correct firmware level. If
the incorrect firmware level is used, the system will not start. To download firmware updates,
software updates, and fixes, see the Fix Central website.
To run DDR4 memory, install fully populated memory voltage regulator modules.
