Recovering from a failed migration

You can recover from a failed migration by using the Hardware Management Console (HMC).

To recover from a failed migration, complete the following steps:

  1. In the navigation pane, expand Systems Management > Servers.
  2. Click the source server on which the mobile partition is located.
Note: You can also obtain the same information by typing the migrlpar command on the HMC command line.
  3. Select Operations > Mobility > Recover.

The HMC Classic interface is not supported in Hardware Management Console (HMC) Version 8.7.0, or later. The functions that were previously available in the HMC Classic interface are now available in the HMC Enhanced+ interface.

When the HMC is at version 8.7.0, or later, complete the following steps to revover a logical partition from a failed migration:
    1. In the navigation pane, click the Resources icon The icon represents the Resources function of the HMC.
    2. Click All Partitions. Alternatively, click All Systems. In the work pane, click the server name that has the logical partition. Click View System Partitions. The All Partitions page is displayed.
    3. In the work pane, select the logical partition and click Actions > Mobility > Recover.
Notes: Select the Force recover check box only in one of the following situations:
    • The HMC cannot contact one of the migration components that requires a new configuration.
    • The migration was started by another HMC.
    • A normal recovery does not succeed.
