External cables

Use this procedure to service the external cables except the service processor cable or SMP cable.

Note: When the 8204-E8A is attached to a 7314-G30 the following conditions apply.

If the system firmware levels are equal to or less than EL320_040_031, the system must be powered off before adding or removing 12X channel cables.
If the system firmware levels are greater than EL320_040_031, the 12X channel cables can be added or removed concurrently by following normal maintenance procedures.

Remove the external cables

Use the graphics in the locations table to locate the cable.

Trace the cable and record the system location at the other end, and then remove the cable.

Install the external cables

Use the graphic in the locations table to locate the location where the cable is to be installed.

Install the cable, then route and install the other end of the cable to the system location that was previously recorded.
