Adding the new disk drive as a resource using Linux

After replacing or installing a disk drive, use this procedure to have the system add the disk drive as a resource.

After replacing or installing a disk drive you must add the new disk drive as a resource.

To add the disk drive as a resource using Linux®, do the following steps:

  1. From the IBM® Power RAID Configuration Utility display, select Work with disk unit recovery. Press Enter.
  2. From the Work with Disk Unit Recovery display, select Concurrent add device. Press Enter.

  3. Type select 1 next to the location from which you removed the disk drive.

    The Verify Device Concurrent Add display is shown.

  4. Press Enter on the Verify Device Concurrent Add display. The Complete Device Concurrent Add display is shown.
  5. Press Enter on the Complete Device Concurrent Add display to indicate that the disk drive is installed.
  6. Rebuild the data on the replacement disk drive. For instructions, go to Rebuild data on a replacement disk drive using Linux .
  7. Go to Verify a repair . This completes this procedure.
