Before requesting temporary capacity on your server, you must enable
your server for On/Off Capacity on Demand (CoD).
To enable your server for On/Off CoD, you must use the Hardware Management Console (HMC).
Most CoD tasks on the HMC require
the HMC Super Administrator
user role.
To enable your server for On/Off CoD:
- Retrieve the resulting On/Off CoD enablement code from either your desktop or from the HMC.

- From your desktop, access the appropriate Web site:
- Enter the system type and serial number of your server.
- Record the activation code that is displayed on the Web site.

- Right-click the HMC desktop and select Net --> Browser.
- Near the bottom of the window, click IBM in the
line Go to IBM web site.
- Enter http://www-912.ibm.com/pod/pod in the Search box at the top and
click Search.
- Under the search results, click the URL that reads http://www-912.ibm.com/pod/pod.
- Enter the System Type and Serial Number for the system for which you want
to retrieve the code and click Submit.
- Record the activation code that is displayed on the Web site. To copy
the activation code, left-click and drag the mouse to highlight the code.

- Enter your activation code on your server
using the HMC. To enter your code:
- In the navigation area of the HMC window, expand Server
and Partition.
- Select Server Management.
- In the contents area, right-click the server on which you want
enter your enablement code.
- Select Manage On Demand Activations.
- Select Capacity on Demand.
- Select Enter CoD Code.
- Type your activation code in the Code field.
If you have copied the code, click the middle mouse button.
- Click OK.
- If a confirmation window is displayed, click Yes to
confirm the activation. Click Cancel to cancel the
activation.
