Changing the system value settings

Find out how to and why you need to change the system value settings.

Change the system value settings on both the primary partition and each secondary partition by completing the following steps:

  1. From a command line, type WRKSYSVAL command (Work with System Values).
  2. Record the value for each system value setting. These values need to be restored later.
    • _____ QAUTOCFG (Autoconfigure devices)
    • _____ QIPLTYPE (Type of IPL to perform)
    • _____ QPFRADJ (Performance adjustment)
  3. Change the settings to the following values:
    • QAUTOCFG (Autoconfigure devices) = 0 (Off)
    • QIPLTYPE (Type of IPL to perform) = 2 (Attended IPL, console in debug mode)
    • QPFRADJ (Performance adjustment) = 2 (Adjustment at IPL and automatic adjustment)
