Memory allocation

To access the Memory allocation page, click Memory allocation tab in the left navigation pane of the Performance dashboard.

The Memory allocation view includes historical data and trends that reflect the amount of memory that is allocated. The Memory allocation page includes Current memory details and System details sections. The current memory details include information about the amount of memory usage for different fields like Available, Allocated, Virtual persistent memory, Activated, and Installed. The system details include details about the state of the selected system, Machine type*Serial number, number of partitions, and the number of VIOSs for the selected system. The graph shows memory usage trends that are divided by the activated, allocated, firmware usage, VIOS usage, max usage, and partition usage. You can change the graph options to show the overall memory allocation of the selected system based on the selected time period. The tabular representation that shows detailed information about memory allocation per partition.

You can refresh the memory allocation data by using the Refresh icon on the top-right side of the Memory allocation page. To do this, select a date range from the calendar or choose one of the time period options such as the last 4 hours, last 24 hours, last week, last month, and last year and click Refresh. The data gets refreshed for the selected time duration.

By default, the graphs and tables show data that was collected for the last 4 hours. For more information about displaying data for a longer amount of time, see Processor usage.

For more information about the processor usage trends graph and the processor usage tables, see the following topics:
  • Memory trend graphs: The memory allocation page includes trend graphs that show memory allocation trends that are plotted against a default time interval of 4 hours.
  • Memory allocation per partition table: The memory allocation per partition table lists information that is based on memory allocation per partition over the selected time period.
