Work with ASP configuration

Use the Work with ASP configuration to manage disk configuration capacity, to delete a user auxiliary storage pool (ASP), and to add units to an ASP.

The following options are displayed on Work with ASP Configuration:
Display disk configuration capacity
Display the threshold and overflow values of the ASP and the assigned disk units. This display is also available under the Display disk configuration option. For details, see Display disk configuration.
Delete user ASP
Delete a user-defined ASP (ASPs 2 through 255).
Add units to ASPs
Add non-configured units to an ASP. The non-configured units increase the amount of storage that is assigned to the ASP.
Add units to ASPs and balance data
Add disk units to an existing ASP or to create an ASP and add non-configured disk units to that ASP.
First, the disk units are initialized and configured. Next, the data on the other disk units is moved to balance the capacity of all the disk units in the ASP equally.
Delete ASP data
Delete the data in the ASP.
Change ASP storage threshold
Display or change the threshold for the system auxiliary storage pool (user ASPs are not supported). The system notifies you when the threshold value is reached.
Move units from one ASP to another
Change the assignment of a disk unit to another ASP.
Remove units from configuration
Remove a disk unit from the ASP configuration. If the unit being removed has data and there is space in the ASP, the system copies the data to other units in the ASP. The unit that is removed becomes non-configured.
Pause the remove operation
This function stops the remove operation from running. You can resume the remove operation at a later time.
Resume the remove operation
This function starts the remove operation that was paused.
Cancel the remove operation
This function stops the remove operation. You cannot resume the remove operation at a later time.
Cancel the remove operation and balance data in the ASP
This function stops the remove operation. You cannot resume the remove operation at a later time. The data on the disk units in the ASP are balanced so that each unit in the ASP has approximately the same percent used.
