Changing a virtual switch

From a server that is managed by the Hardware Management Console (HMC), you can change the attributes of a PowerVM® virtual switch.

About this task

To change a virtual switch, complete the following steps:

Procedure

  1. In the navigation pane, click System resources.
  2. Click Systems. In the work pane, click the server of your choice. The System settings page is displayed. In the navigation pane, click Virtual networks.

    The Virtual Networks page opens in Network(s) view.

  3. Click and expand Virtual Switches section .
  4. Right-click the virtual switch that you want to change and select Modify Virtual Switch. Or, you can select the virtual switch and click Action > Modify Virtual Switch.
  5. Change the name of the virtual switch in the New Virtual Switch Name field.
  6. Change the mode of the virtual switch to virtual Ethernet bridging (VEB) or virtual Ethernet port aggregator (VEPA).
    Note: The VEPA mode option is available on VEPA-capable hardware only.
  7. Click OK to apply the changes.
