You can use the Hardware Management Console (HMC) to create or remove media libraries to and from a selected
Virtual I/O Server (VIOS).
About this task
You can create a media library by using the storage of an existing volume group. The maximum size
of the media library is the total available storage in the volume group.
To create or remove media libraries by using the HMC,
complete the following steps:

In the navigation pane, click System resources.

Click Virtual I/O servers.
Alternatively, click Systems. In the work pane, click the system name that
has the VIOS. The System settings page is displayed. In the navigation pane,
click Virtual I/O Servers.
The Virtual I/O Servers that are available on the managed system are displayed.

In the work pane, click the VIOS that you want to
view and change properties.
The VIOS properties tab is
displayed.
- Create or remove media libraries based on the HMC that you use.

In the navigation pane, click Virtual media
library. The Virtual media library page is displayed with the media
library that is assigned to the VIOS.
Note: To remove an existing virtual media library, click Delete library and
confirm the action.

Click Create library. The Create library panel is
displayed.

Select an existing volume group to create the virtual media library.

Specify the size of the media library in megabytes (MB), gigabytes (GB), or terabytes (TB).

Click Create.

In the navigation pane, click Virtual storage. The Virtual
Storage page is displayed with the properties of the virtual media library.

In the Virtual Storage work pane, click and expand the Virtual
Storage Management section to view and manage the VIOS partitions that are listed in a table.

Right-click the VIOS and select Manage
Virtual Storage. Alternatively, select the VIOS and click . The Virtual Storage Management window
opens.

Click the Optical Devices tab to display a list of virtual and physical
optical media. Note: To remove an existing virtual media library, in the Virtual optical
media section, click Delete Library and confirm the
action.

Select the Create option to create a media library.

Select an existing volume group and specify the size of the new media library.

Click OK.
