You can use the Hardware Management Console (HMC) to add client partitions.

About this task

To add client partitions, complete the following steps:

Procedure

  1. Create the virtual Small Computer Serial Interface (SCSI) and virtual Fibre Channel adapters on the VIOS.
For more information about changing a partition template, see Changing a partition template. Repeat this procedure for the other VIOS if you have a dual VIOS setup.
  2. Create the client partition profile as described in Creating a logical partition profile for a client operating system.
Note: Add virtual Fibre Channel adapters if they are required.
  3. Configure the virtual SCSI adapter mapping in the VIOS partition to the client virtual SCSI adapter, as explained in steps 3 - 9 in Configuring the VIOS for client storage. Repeat this procedure for the other VIOS if you have a dual VIOS setup.
  4. Configure the virtual Fibre Channel adapter mapping in the VIOS partition to the client virtual Fibre Channel adapter.
For more information about assigning virtual Fibre Channel storage, see Assigning virtual Fibre Channel storage to a partition. Repeat this procedure for the other VIOS logical partition if you have a dual VIOS setup.
