Add a new view to a book

You can create a view or an exploration of a cube and add it to a book so that you can do ad hoc analysis.

Views are automatically saved as a part of the book in which they are created. You can also save a view as a Planning Analytics Workspace object, so it can be opened from the Welcome page. You can share the view with other people or reuse the view in other books.

Follow these steps to add a view:
  1. Open a book in Edit mode.
  2. On the Data tree, right-click the cube that contains the data you want to use.
  3. Click Add new view.

You can also add a view from Views node in the Data tree or drag a view and drop it on to an empty cube viewer.

If you drag a view on to a cube viewer that is not empty, you can either replace the existing view with the new one, or add the view to the book as a new widget.
Dropping a view on an existing view
Note: When you replace an existing view with a new view, the new view inherits the existing view’s properties (such as background color).
