You can set the data format on a row or column, or on the entire view.
Data formatting can be done in the view (exploration) or visualization. The formats are retained
when the view is switched back to exploration or other type of visualization.
Procedure
-
Do the following steps to set format on a row or column in the exploration or
visualization:
- Right-click the column or row header, and click Format values.
If you are using the new experience view, click Formats
instead.
For visualizations, you can access the
Format values menu
from the data item context menu
under the
Fields tab.
- Select the format, such as Currency.
You can apply formatting to both columns and rows. Column formatting takes precedence over row
formatting. For visualizations, you can also set the data format for the axes.

format and type the pattern for the custom format.
- To reset the format that is used to the database default, select Use
database format.

- Click the handle, then click the Format values icon in the application
toolbar.
- Select the format, such as Currency.
- If none of the built-in formats are suitable, select Custom
format, and type the pattern for the custom format.
- To reset the format that is used to the database default, select Use
database format.
