Add objects to rows, columns, and the context area

Select the data that you want to appear in the TM1® Exploration View. You can insert dimensions, members, and subsets.

Alternatively, you can use a view to populate the Exploration View.

Before you begin

You can add or remove dimensions, members, and subsets to the rows, columns, and context areas of an Exploration View.

The rows and columns areas are continuously expressive; when you add or remove a dimension, member, or subset to the rows or columns areas, the sheet is updated to reflect your changes and calculations from a calculated row or column are preserved.

The context area is not continuously expressive; if you move a calculated row or column to or from the context area, the calculations are not preserved. For more information on calculated rows and columns, see Add calculated rows and columns.

Procedure

  1. Create an Exploration View using an IBM® Planning Analytics.
  2. To use a view to populate the Exploration View, in the source tree, expand Views and drag a view onto the Exploration View.
Or, in the source tree, expand a cube, and then drag a dimension, member, or set to the drop zones.
Note: You cannot add a dimension, member, or set from the top level Dimensions node in the source tree.
    1. Drag a dimension, member, or set to the Rows drop zone.
    2. Drag a dimension, member, or set to the Columns drop zone.
    3. Drag dimensions, members, or sets to the context area. This step is optional. Use the context area to filter the data in the Exploration View. For example, to filter the data by product, drag a member of the Products dimension to the context area.

When you drag a member to a drop zone, the member and its children are inserted by default. For more information about inserting members, see Insert members.

For example, to display a dimension called Retailers in the rows, click the Retailers dimension in the source tree and drag the dimension to the Rows drop zone.

  3. Save your workbook.

Results

Members are displayed in the rows and columns of the Exploration View.
