View and manage database backups on Planning Analytics as a Service

You can view all your available database backups. You can also create a manual backup on-demand, upload a backup, or restore a backup.

Procedure

Open Planning Analytics Workspacein Planning Analytics as a Service.
Click the Administration tile.
Click Databases.
Click the Backup tab.

You can now proceed with any of these database management tasks.

Create a manual backup

About this task

When you create a database, you can configure an automatic backup schedule that generates a daily backup of your database. You can also create a manual backup at any time.

Procedure

Click Create on the Backup tab.
Enter a Backup name.
Click Create.

The backup is created as a tar.gz archive and appears as a Manual backup type in the list of available items on the Backup tab.

Upload a backup

About this task

You can upload a backup from your local file system or network. The backup must be a valid .tgz or .tar.gz Planning Analytics database backup archive; no validation is performed on the archive.

Procedure

Click Upload database backup .
Drag and drop the backup onto the drop zone or click the ...tap to browse link to browse to the file.

Note: A known issue that occurs only on the Safari browser prevents you from successfully uploading a .tgz archive using the ...tap to browse link. To work around this issue, use drag and drop instead of browse. Alternatively, you can rename the archive with the .tar.gz extension before you upload.
Click Upload.

The backup you uploaded is available for restoration and is included in the list on the Backup tab.

Restore a backup

About this task

All of the manual and automatic backups that are available for restoration are listed on the Backup tab.

Procedure

Click the Action button for the backup that you want to restore to your database.
Click Restore.

The dataset contained on the backup is restored to your database.
