Row and column gutters

Row and column gutters can be used in Universal Report static layout in IBM® Planning Analytics for Microsoft Excel and IBM Planning Analytics TM1® Web.

Row and column gutters auto-expand the report definition as you type or paste content into them, so you do not need to manually adjust named ranges.

When you type or paste content into a row or column gutter, the row and column named ranges detect the new values, then updates the report to incorporate the values in a new row or column. The report fills out the rest of the information in the new row or column, based on the other information in the report. The generated information maintains spacer rows, custom labels, and custom data.

Note: Default formatting is applied to content added in gutter ranges. Customizing formatting should be done after content has been added.

This process works when you paste multiple cells of content, as long as the row or column gutter cell is included where you are pasting the new content. This process also works with stacked rows and columns.

Note: The row and column gutters cannot be used to make reports smaller, or delete rows and columns. Gutter ranges must be adjacent to the row and column ranges.

The following table contains the named range ID's of the row and column gutters:

Table 1. Universal Report static layout row and column gutters named range ID's
Named range IDs Description
tm2\\_0_rg The tm2\\_0_rg named range maps to the row gutters of the Universal Report static layout. A row gutter defines the far margin of the data. It is the first empty row on the right.
tm2\\_0_cg The tm2\\_0_cg named range maps to the column gutters of the Universal Report. A column gutter defines the far margin of the data. It is the first empty column on the bottom.

Manual changes are temporary. Closing and re-opening the report restores the data. If you want to save your changes, you can export the report as a slice and publish the exported report.
