Registering and running the Planning Analytics Administration Agent as a Windows service

The Planning Analytics Administration (PAA) agent can be installed with the Data Tier installation for Planning Analytics 2.1.8 and later. The installation includes the command line scripts that are required to register the PAA agent as a service on Windows.

About this task

The version of the Planning Analytics Administration agent should match the version of Planning Analytics Workspace. To learn how to update the Planning Analytics Administration agent from Planning Analytics Workspace release, see Upgrading the Planning Analytics Administration agent.

To register the PAA agent as a Windows service, you must open a Powershell or Command Prompt window with the Run as administrator option.

Procedure

  1. To register the PAA agent as a Windows service, run the following scripts from a Windows Powershell or Command Prompt.

    <install_dir>\paa_agent\bin\PAAAgentSetJavaHome.bat

    <install_dir>\paa_agent\bin\PAAAgentRegister.bat

  2. If you need to remove the PAA agent as a Windows service, run the <install_dir>\paa\bin\PAAAgentDelete.bat script.

Results

After the Planning Analytics Administration agent is registered as a service, you can start or stop the service in the Windows Services console.
