Installing Planning Analytics Core Financial Applications on Planning Analytics as a Service

Follow these instructions to install the Planning Analytics Financial Applications model and the Planning Analytics Workspace interface on Planning Analytics as a Service.

Before you begin

The following prerequisites are required:

  • Planning Analytics as a Service environment that was provisioned by IBM.
  • The user-installer is also an administrator for the Planning Analytics as a Service environment.

About this task

The following Planning Analytics Financial Applications model archives are available and applicable to both Windows and Linux. These archives, along with the Planning Analytics Workspace archives, are downloaded from IBM Passport advantage when you purchase Planning Analytics Core Financial Applications.

  • IBM_PA_Project.tar.gz

The following Planning Analytics Workspace archives are available:

  • IBM_PA_Financial.tar.gz
  • IBM_PA_Adv_WorkForce.tar.gz
  • IBM_PA_Demand_Supply.tar.gz
  • IBM_PA_Project.tar.gz

Procedure

  1. Log in to Planning Analytics Workspace using the URL provided by IBM.

    The URL should be similar to this one: https://us-east-2.aws.planninganalytics.ibm.com/?accountId=<xxxxxxx>&tenantId=<xxxxxxxx>&perspective=pa-home

  2. Click the Administration tile on the Planning Analytics Workspace home page.
  3. Click the Databases tile.
  4. Click Create.

    This creates a new empty database in the environment where the Planning Analytics model is hosted.

  5. Specify the following configuration settings for the database:
    Database configuration
    1. Database name: enter the name of one of the following models that you will be installing:
      • IBM_PA_Financial
      • IBM_PA_Adv_WorkForce
      • IBM_PA_Demand_Supply
      • IBM_PA_Project
    2. Replicas: enter the number of desired replicas (each replica will utilize additional storage and RAM). Select the High availability checkbox if the database should be available in case of outages.
    3. Disk space: set to 50 GB.
    4. Memory: set to 5 GB.
    5. Automatic backups: leave On.
    6. Backup start time: you can leave the default time or specify a different time.
  6. Click Create.

    It will take a few minutes for the database to be created. Once the Status changes to Started, the database is created and running.

  7. Install the Planning Analytics model.
    1. Click the Backup tab.

    2. Click the Upload icon Upload icon and select the .tar.gz archive for the application you want to install.
    3. Drag and drop the Planning Analytics model file IBM_solution_name.tar.gz onto the designated area.

    4. Click on the ellipsis icon (3 dots) on the right of the file that you just uploaded, and select Restore.

    5. When the Status changes to Started, the model is running.

  8. Install the Planning Analytics Workspace interface.
    1. Under Administration, go to Lifecycle management.

    2. Click the Upload icon Upload icon.
    3. Drag and drop the Planning Analytics Workspace archive IBM_PAW_solution_name.gz onto the designated area, and click Import.

      A message appears if the import is successful.

    4. Click Deploy.
    5. Click Next.
    6. In the Folder name section, specify the following settings:
      • For Folder name, enter one of the following names, as applicable for the solution being installed: IBM_PAW_Financial, IBM_PAW_Adv_Work Force, IBM_PAW_Demand_Supply, or IBM_PAW_Project.
      • For Select target environment, select either your production or non-production environment.Select target environment
    7. In the Database mapping section, on the right, select the database with the same name as indicated on the left. Click Deploy.

    8. Click the Home icon, and then click Home.

    9. The Planning Analytics application is shown in the Home page.
