Use the Summary page to review the parameters of your forecast and
activate the forecast so other users can run it.
About this task
The dialog displays the forecast status, which indicates whether the forecast is
Active or Inactive. If the status is set to
Inactive, analysts and consumers are not able to open the forecast. None of
the users are able to run the forecast as well. However, if the status is set to
Active, all users with access to the database and cube are able to run the
forecast.
Procedure
- Review the summary of your baseline forecast. If anything looks amiss, you can click
Back to return to previous configuration pages.
- Optionally, configure how forecast details and errors are handled.
The following options are available on the Summary page:
- Save statistical details...: Saves the statistical details that are
generated when you run the forecast in the ForecastStatsCube, where they can be
analyzed after the forecast completes. If this option is not enabled, statistical details are not
saved anywhere and cannot be reviewed. If you also selected the
Allow override option, you can also allow your users to choose the slice to
store the statistical details.
- Ignore time series with insufficient historical data: Excludes error
statistics for records that have no historical data from detailed analysis. These records are still
included in the overall forecast summary.
Additional configuration is required if you enable the Save statistical
details... option:
The first time that you enable the Save statistical details... option on a
Planning Analytics database you are asked to create the
ForecastStatsCube.
The ForecastStatsCube saves statistical data about baseline forecast
executions. It contains three dimensions:
- ForecastResultRun
- Initially, this dimension contains members numbered 1 through 5, representing individual
baseline forecasts. When you select a slice to which you want to save statistical details, you
specify one of the members in this dimension to save details data. After you initially create the
ForecastStatsCube, you can modify this dimension to contain other members to
store statistical details for other baseline forecasts.
- ForecastResultTimeseries
- This dimension has members corresponding to time series as members.
- ForecastResultOutput
- This dimension has all the statistical details categories as its members.
- Click Create.
- Use the Select a slice option to pick the member of the
ForecastResultRun dimension to receive the statistical data.
If you selected the Allow override option for the
Save statistical details... option, your users can choose a different slice
to store the statistical details when they run the baseline forecast.
- Toggle the Forecast status to Active to
enable running the forecast and to make the forecast available to other users.
- Click View baseline to open the baseline forecast page, which
provides an overview of your forecast. You can edit or run the baseline forecast from this
page.
