Specify the scope of a baseline forecast

The scope of the forecast defines the members for which you want to generate forecast values.

Procedure

  1. Drag and drop the dimensions that contain the members for which you want to generate a forecast from the Context area to the Forecast members area. Think of these members as the members on the rows in an exploration. You can specify up to three dimensions in the Forecast members area.
Important: By default, only the first member in a dimension is added to the forecast scope. To change the forecast member or to add additional members to the scope, complete Step 2.
  2. Click the Options icon to change the hierarchy for a forecast member dimension or to define a new set.
Options icon with Replace Hierarchy and Open Set Editor options shown

If you define a new set, you must explicitly save the set with a name. The set will then be available for selection when you click Drop-dowm menu icon to select a different set or level for a forecast member dimension.

  3. As with forecast member dimensions, you can click the Options icon to modify the hierarchy or set for a context member dimension. You can also click Drop-dowm menu icon to select a different set or level for dimensions in the Context members area.
  4. If you want to let users override context member or forecast member dimensions and specify a custom scope when they run the baseline forecast, enable the Allow override option for dimensions in the Context members area or the Forecast members area.
  5. Click Next.

What to do next

If you defined a mutivariate baseline forecast, specify the variables of a multivariate baseline forecast. Otherwise, define advanced baseline forecast settings.
