Forecasting error messages

You might receive error or informational messages about problems that occur while forecasting. Use the information here to help resolve problems you encounter. If you receive an error not listed here, try to perform the action that caused the error again and contact IBM Support if the error persists.

Disabling zero suppression may clear this error
This message generally accompanies other messages.  Disable zero suppression on the view and try again. For more information, see Forecasting setup - Zero suppression.
Forecasting did not succeed for one or more series because the data has too many missing values (more than 33%)
The member to be forecast contains too many blank or missing values.
Forecasting did not succeed for one or more series due to an insufficient number of historical data points (at least 5 non-ignored points are required)
After ignoring data points, a minimum of five data points is required for a valid univariate forecast.  Generally, the historical duration should be at least 3x larger than the forecast period.
Forecasting did not succeed for one or more series due to an insufficient number of historical data points (at least 16 non-ignored points are required)
Too few historical points for multivariate forecasting. Minimum number of data points required for multivariate VAR is 16 while minimum data points required for multivariate ARIMAX is 63.
Forecasting succeeded, but some missing values were found in the data and imputed
The accuracy of the forecast was less than optimal because there are too many missing values.
Ignore period cannot be greater than start period
The ignore period (date) cannot be within the forecast period.  Change the ignore or forecast periods to prevent overlap.
In order to preview remove the sandbox dimension from the context bar
Move the sandbox dimension out of the context area. Click the Action icon Action icon for the sandbox dimension, then click Hierarchy > Remove. Then, try the preview again.
Invalid start time or end time
Planning Analytics Workspace validated data entries, but the start or end time is invalid. Select a valid time period using the selection UI.
Model could not be trained and evaluated, as the data has too many missing values (0's) in continuity
There are too many zeroes in the data, which inhibits proper training and evaluation of at least one of the forecast models.
One of the cells used as a reference for spreading has a value of 0
A spreading reference cell cannot be zero.  Select a non-zero reference cell.
Please select a leaf-level member
This message indicates that a leaf level (non-consolidated) member was not selected.  Using the member picker, change the selection to a leaf-level member (for spreading reference).
Something went wrong while generating the forecast for one or more series
This is a general message for any unsuccessful prediction. Please try again and if the issue persists contact IBM Support.
The forecast comments cannot exceed {#}
There is a limit to applying comments to selected members.  You cannot apply comments to  more than 25 members.
The forecast data does not match the cells to be written to
This error occurs when you try to forecast more values (time periods) than exist in the underlying cube. Adjust the forecast period or request that additional time periods be added to the cube.
The predictive forecast for {cubeName} did not complete successfully.\n%{error}
This is a general message for any unsuccessful prediction.  Please try again and if the issue persists contact IBM Support.
Too few historical values
Increase the historical duration. Generally, the historical duration should be at least 3x larger than the forecast period.
Too many missing points
Forecasting is not possible for elements with too many blank or missing values.
Unable to forecast on control cube
The forecasting feature does not support control cubes.
Unable to forecast on locked cube
You cannot forecast values in a locked cube. Unlock the cube if you want to proceed with forecasting.
Unable to forecast on the rule derived cell
Predictive forecasting do not support writing a forecast value to a rule-derived cell. Select another save location (in Advanced tab) that is not a rule-derived cell.
Unable to update cell data because of Consolidation Hold
Certain combinations of holds are not possible with value spreading.  Release holds to correct.
Variable(s) future values can not be considered due to insufficient historical datapoints (minimum 63)
There are too few time points to run ARIMAX exogenous case.
