Cell indicators for Universal Reports in Planning Analytics for Microsoft Excel

Universal Reports in IBM® Planning Analytics for Microsoft Excel now support cell indicators for cell holds and edited cells that have not been committed yet. Cell indicators use formatting on selected data cells to visually indicate that they are different from other cells in the data range.

Cell indicators in Universal Reports for edited cells and cell holds use the Edit – IBM Cognos and Hold Values - IBM Cognos named styles, respectively. You can edit these styles in the Styles_CAFE.xlsx file that is located in the c:\Users\<User>\AppData\Local\Cognos\Office Connection\Styles directory.

Note: Universal Reports only applies the font color in the named style to the edited cells and cell holds.

A new property in Universal Reports and Universal Reports static layout called Disable Selective Cell Formatting, determines the use of cell indicators. This is a boolean property that defaults to FALSE. When its value is FALSE or any other value, Planning Analytics for Microsoft Excel uses named styles to apply the cell indicators for held cells and edited cells. Only when the property is set to TRUE, is the Disable Selective Cell Formatting disabled and Planning Analytics for Microsoft Excel does not apply the cell indicator formatting. Large Universal Reports might refresh faster when this property is set to TRUE, which could be useful in certain workloads.

Note: Unlike Planning Analytics for Microsoft Excel, TM1 Web does not use the new Disable Selective Cell Formatting property and continues to show its cell indicators regardless of this property’s current value. TM1 Web also uses its own cell indicator styling. For more information about the supported cell indicators in TM1 Web, see Cell indicators in TM1 Web Universal Reports.
