You must identify one or more dimensions that represents time in the cube you use for
forecasting.
About this task
The time
dimension (or dimensions) should include members for future time periods that correspond to
the timeframe for which you want to create a forecast.
Procedure
-
On the Timeframe page, click Add
dimension(s).
- Select the dimension or multiple dimensions that represent time in your
cube.
In the case of multiple dimensions, you should order the dimensions as you would in
an exploration, with the more general time period followed by the more specific time period. For
example, if your cube includes the dimensions Year and Month, your configuration would look like
this.
You can click a dimension and drag it to a
different position if necessary.
- When you specify a time dimension, the dimension uses the default hierarchy and the set
is Selection.
Click the Options icon to change the hierarchy for a time dimension or to
define a new set.
If you define a new set, you must explicitly save the set with a name.
Click
to
select a different set or level for the time dimension.
- Click Select start period to define the start of your
forecast.
- The Forecast period end is automatically set to the last member of
your time dimension (or dimensions, in the case of multiple time dimensions). You can click the menu
icon
to pick a
different end period.
- Optionally, you can ignore
some historical time periods in your forecast.
To ignore periods after a specific point in time, click After, then click
Select ignore time periods and select the start of the historical time period
that should be ignored. Any period after the selected period is ignored when generating a
forecast.
To ignore an individual time period, click Individual, then click
Select ignore time periods and select the individual historical time period
that should be ignored
- Click Next.
