Linking a translation to a template report

Administrators can link a translation definition to one or more template reports using report context based on the layout fields referenced in the template report's dynamic distribution list and report name. This contextual specification provides the report ID and field name that is to be translated.

  1. Navigate to the Report Translation Context panel in one of the following ways:
    • From the Translation definition:
      1. Navigate to the Translations panel (ISPF A.TR.N).
      2. Specify search criteria, or leave the fields blank, and press Enter.
      3. Locate the translation definition you are looking for, and type E in the CMD column next to it, and press Enter. The Named Translation panel is displayed.
      4. From the LINK drop-down menu, select option 1. Link Report Contexts. The Report Translation Context panel is displayed.
    • From the Template report definition:
      1. Navigate to the Report Definitions panel (ISPF A.C).
      2. Specify search criteria, or leave the fields blank, and press Enter.
      3. Locate the template report that you want to link the translation to, and type E (edit) in the CMD column next to it.
        Tip: You can limit your search to template reports in the search criteria panel, or refer to the Type column of the Report Definitions panel.
      4. On the Template Report panel, use the LINK drop-down menu to select option 16. Link Translations. The Report Translation Context panel is displayed.
  2. On the Report Translation Context panel, type ADD on the command line and press Enter.
  3. Specify search criteria, or leave the fields blank, and press Enter.
    The resulting list is filtered by your search criteria. The Report Contexts Selection panel is displayed according to your search criteria, listing the Report Name and Field name of the reports eligible for this translation.
  4. Type S (Select) in the CMD column next to the report context to be linked, and press Enter.
    The template report and translation are now linked.
