Setting preferences for the Output Manager ISPF viewer

You can adjust user preferences for displaying archives, reports, and SYSOUT in the Output Manager view panels. You can also select a formatted view, if available.

Use the Viewer Preference panel to set display preferences such as display color. Use the General View Preferences panel to set display preferences for displaying notes, highlights, page breaks, and other viewing preferences when viewing archives and reports in Output Manager.

  1. From the Output Manager main menu, choose option V, View Reports, and press Enter. The View Reports panel is displayed.
  2. Select option 1 Viewer Preferences from the Options drop-down menu. The Viewer Preferences panel is displayed: The following Viewer Preferences are available:
    • Hilites: In this row, specify display options for highlighting text when viewing archived sysouts and reports.
      • In the Color field, type a display color for viewer highlighting: RED, PINK, GREEN, YELLOW, BLUE, TURQUOISE, or WHITE.
      • In the Highlight field, type a highlight option for viewer highlighting: NONE (no highlighting), USCORE (underscore), BLINK (blinking text), or REVERSE (reverse highlighting).
      • In the Intensity field, type the intensity with which to display viewer highlighting: HIGH or LOW.
    • Notes: In this row, specify display options for displaying notes when viewing archived sysouts and reports.
      • In the Color field, type a display color for viewer notes: RED, PINK, GREEN, YELLOW, BLUE, TURQUOISE, or WHITE.
      • In the Highlight field, type a highlight option for viewer notes: NONE (no highlighting), USCORE (underscore), BLINK (blinking text), or REVERSE (reverse highlighting).
      • In the Intensity field, type the intensity with which to display viewer notes: HIGH or LOW.
    • Mark: In this row, specify display options for displaying marks when viewing archived sysouts and reports:
      • In the Color field, type a display color for marks: RED, PINK, GREEN, YELLOW, BLUE, TURQUOISE, or WHITE.
      • In the Highlight field, type a highlight option for marks: NONE (no highlighting), USCORE (underscore), BLINK (blinking text), or REVERSE (reverse highlighting).
      • In the Intensity field, type the intensity with which to display marks: HIGH or LOW.
    • Two notes color: Type the display color to use when there are two notes in one view session: RED, PINK, GREEN, YELLOW, BLUE, TURQUOISE, or WHITE.
    • Three and more notes color: Type the display color to use when there are three or more notes in one view session:RED, PINK, GREEN, YELLOW, BLUE, TURQUOISE, or WHITE.
    • Select is synonym of: Type either VIEW or BROWSE to determine whether to view or browse an object when a user types S (Select) in the command column.
    • Replacement character for binary symbols: Type a character to be used for replacing binary symbols within a view session.
    • Type a slash (/) in any of the following fields to activate a display behaviour:
      • Confirmation on hilite deletion: When this field is selected, users are prompted for confirmation when they attempt to delete a highlight in a view session.
      • Confirmation on note deletion: When this field is selected, users are prompted for confirmation when they attempted to delete a note in a view session.
      • Show warning when file contains binary symbols: If this field is selected and a file contains binary symbols, a warning is displayed.
      • Show current line and column: If this field is selected, the position (line and column) is displayed in view sessions.
  3. When you are finished setting Viewer Preferences, press F3 to return to the Output Manager viewer.
  4. Select option 2 General View Preferences from the Options drop-down menu. The General View Preferences panel is displayed: The following General View Preferences are available:
    • Show notes: When this field is selected, notes are displayed.
    • Show highlights: When this field is selected, highlights are displayed.
    • Show page breaks: When this field is selected, page breaks and page numbers are displayed.
    • Show hex: When this field is selected, content is displayed in hex.
    • Show column numbers: When this field is selected, a column number ruler is displayed.
    • Show row numbers: When this field is selected, a row number ruler is displayed.
    • Notes overlap highlights: When this field is selected, notes can overlap highlights.
    • Show page by page: When this field is selected, only one page is displayed at a time.
    • Highlight fixed area: Changes the color of the column number and row number of the fixed area when using the FIX line command in Page by Page view.
      Tip: Use this General View Preferences panel (option 2 in the Options drop-down list) to select column number, row number, and Page by Page view options.
  5. When you are finished setting General View Preferences, press F3 to return to the Output Manager viewer.
  6. Optionally, you can the current formatted view by selecting one from a list of available formatted views. When viewing a report or archive in the Output Manager Viewer, you can select an existing formatted view from option 3 Change Formatted View on the Options drop-down menu. Select your formatted view from the list of available existing formatted views using the "/" line command.
