Administrative Functions menu
The Administrative Functions menu provides access to the Output Manager administrative functions. To display this menu, choose option A, Administrative Functions, from the Output Manager main menu.
Allocating data sets to be used for archiving SYSOUT
- A - Archive Attributes
- Choose this option to display the Archive Attributes panel from which you can view, create, edit, and delete archive attributes. Archive attributes provide parameters for allocating a sequential archive file for captured output.
Selecting output off the spool
- S - Selector Rules
- Choose this option to display the Selector Rules panel from which you can view, create, edit, and delete selector rules and subselector rules. These rules specify criteria for selecting report output off the JES spool.
- T - TPL rules
- Choose this option to display the TPL Rules panel, from which you can view, create, edit, and delete TPL rules that can be linked to selector rules. TPL rules provide the ability to perform a WTO (Write to Operator) message or highlight text when a Text Processing Language (TPL) rule matches a string in a SYSOUT captured by a selector rule. A TPL rule defines a "match-action" operation, where "match" is a regular expression that defines the text string to be searched for, and "action" is the writing of a specified output string to the operator, highlighting text, or stopping Output Manager from continuing to read a SYSOUT after a match is made.
Setting up reports
- L - Report Layouts
- Choose this option to display the Layouts panel from which you can view, create, edit, and delete report layouts. A report layout defines the physical arrangement of a report (where fields are located), as originally produced by an application.
- R - Report Selection Rules
- Choose this option to display the Report Rules panel from which you can view, create, edit, and delete report selection rules. These rules specify the job selection criteria (for example, job name, step name, proc step, step number, and DD name) against which captured SYSOUTs are matched to determine if they should be processed into basic or custom reports.
- C - Report Definitions
- Choose this option to display the Report Definitions panel from which you can view, create, edit, and delete report definitions. A report definition provides criteria for creating a custom or basic report from captured SYSOUT.
- TR - Translation administration
- Choose this option to display the Translation Administration panel from which you can define translation pairs of source values and replacement values, and define named translations. Output Manager can process values (source values) within a SYSOUT into specified substituted values (replacement values) using translations.
Distributing reports
- J - Recipient IDs
- Choose this option to display the Recipient IDs panel from which you can view, create, edit, or delete recipient IDs. A recipient ID contains information about a person or location to receive a report and optionally how the reports for that recipient are to be printed.
- D - Distribution Lists
- Choose this option to display the Distribution Lists panel from which you can view, create, edit, or delete distribution lists. A distribution list is a list of recipients (recipient IDs) that can be linked to a report definition to control the distribution of captured report instances. Distribution lists can contain other (nested) distribution lists.
- K - Printer Attributes
- Choose this option to display the Printer Attributes panel from which you can view, create, edit, or delete a set of printer attributes. A set of printer attributes can control how reports are physically printed and can contribute values for the "dynamic printing parameters."
- B - Banner Pages
- Choose this option to display the Banners panel from which you can view, create, edit, or delete banner page definitions or load a banner member. A banner page is optional and provides additional information that you want to include in your report output such as special routing instructions.
- M - PRSET members
- Choose this option to define, edit, or delete PRSET members.
- N - Bundle Administration
- Choose this option to define, edit, or delete bundle definitions; or to view or reprint deactivated bundle instances.

- U - User Messages
- Choose this option to display the User Messages panel from which you can set system, user, administrative, and auditor messages.
- O - Output Manager Environment
