Configuring externally triggered transactions

Configure a transaction to begin when an external system starts an associated service.

About this task

External systems initiate externally triggered transactions. Associate one or more services with the transaction to identify which services can trigger processing.

Before you configure an externally triggered transaction, create a transaction or open an existing transaction. For more information, see Creating transactions and Modifying transactions.

Procedure

  1. Open a transaction.
  2. On the Trigger sources tab, click Externally triggered.
  3. Configure the external systems that can trigger the transaction.
    • To add services, click Add services. From the Add service window, select the services that you want to trigger the transaction, then click Add service.
    • To delete a service, from the Services triggering this transaction table, select the service that you want to remove, click the Delete icon (Delete icon that looks like a trash can), and confirm.
    • To delete multiple services, from the Services triggering this transaction table, select the services that you want to remove, click Delete, and confirm.
  4. Select the This transaction can be triggered by external systems checkbox.
  5. Click Save.

Results

The transaction is configured as an externally triggered transaction. The associated services identify the external integrations that can initiate the transaction.

What to do next

  1. Define event conditions to determine how the transaction responds to events during processing. For more information, see Defining event conditions.
  2. Configure transaction completion criteria to determine when the transaction is complete.
  3. Associate the transaction with the required process steps.
