Viewing application log files

Use Self Service to view the IBM Sterling® Order Management System application log files.

Before you begin

To view Sterling™ Order Management System logs, ensure that you are assigned the Developer or the Organization Administrator user role within Self Service.

Procedure

  1. Open Self Service.
    The Environments dashboard is displayed.
  2. Click View Logs.
    A new tab is opened in OpenSearch to display your requested logs.
  3. From the Index patterns drop-down list, select the environment for which you want to view the logs.
    You can access the logs based on your assigned roles. As a result, the index pattern for the specific environment for which you want to view logs is displayed. For more information, see Organization operations roles within Self Service.
  4. You can select the field and click the Search icon or use the search query to search the log index pattern for viewing the log entries.
    To refine your search query, hover on the field name and click Add field as column icon or click Add filter. The Edit filter window opens.
    1. From the Field drop-down list, select the field name.
    2. From the Operator drop-down list, select an operator.
    3. From the Value drop-down list, select the Sterling Order Management System application.
    4. Click Save.
    5. Click Refresh to view the changes.
    Based on the selected search query and filter criteria, the log entries are displayed for the corresponding environment.
    • By default, you can view the timestamp and the source for the log messages. You can expand the messages and then select the appropriate filters to view the logs.
    • When you search a log, the log results, including the previously searched logs are also displayed on the same page. You can close or view the log windows as needed.
    • To delete a search filter, click the X icon, and click Refresh to view the changes.
    • You can select the sequence filter to view logs based on the sequence of their event in Sterling Order Management System and are available with microsecond precision to display the exact timestamp of the event.
