Defining forwarding or transfer rules

You can define forwardingor transfer rules.

Procedure

  1. From the tree in the application rules side panel, choose Cross Application > Order Promising > Sourcing And Scheduling > Other Promising Rules.

The Other Promising Rules window displays in the work area.

  1. Enter information into the applicable fields. For field value descriptions, see Table 1.
  2. Click Save.

    The following table gives the details about the fields in the Other promising rules window:

    Field Description
    Forwarding Rules
    Use Forwarding Select this checkbox if you want to use forwarding.

    Clearing this checkbox disables all forwarding options.

    Default Carrier Service For Forwarding Select a default carrier service to use during forwarding from the drop-down list.
    For Transportation Considerations Based On Number Of Cartons:
    Assume Average Volume Per Carton To Be Enter a volume and volume UOM to be used as the assumed average volume per carton.
    Outbound Constraints Choosing the Details icon opens the Outbound Constraints window, where you can configure outbound constraints and define routing guides.
    Transfer Rules
    Minimize Number Of Shipments To Consider Through Transfers Between Shipping Nodes Select this checkbox to minimize the number of shipments Sterling Order Management System considers through transfers between shipping nodes.
    Consider Transfers Only When Following Relationship Exists Between Two Shipping Nodes Select a relationship type from the drop-down list. Transfers are considered only when this relationship exists between two shipping nodes.

    This field is disabled if the Minimize Number of Shipments To Consider Through Transfers Between Shipping Nodes checkbox is not selected.

    Multi-Stop Transfer Rules
    Maximum Number Of In-Between Nodes To Be Considered When Determining Multi-Stop Transfer Paths Between Nodes Enter the maximum number of in-between nodes Sterling Order Management System considers when determining multi-stop transfer paths between nodes. If the maximum number of in-between nodes is not defined, it will be treated as zero (0).

    When availability is maintained externally for your enterprise, this field must be configured in the Promising server.

    Consider Multi-Stop Transfers Only When Following Relationship Exists Between Two Shipping Nodes Select a relationship type from the drop-down list. Multi-stop transfers are considered only when this relationship exists between two shipping nodes.

    Smart Sourcing Rules  
    Is Smart Sourcing Allowed Select this checkbox if you want to use smart sourcing for product items. Smart sourcing dynamically performs inventory lookup and determines the nodes to consider for sourcing product items.
    Source to reduce the number of nodes Enter the number of nodes to be considered for smart sourcing. By default, this field is disabled. If you want to enable this field, select the Is Smart Sourcing Allowed check box.
    Procurement Rules  
    Consider Ship Node capacity for procurements By default during procurement, capacity is considered only at a procurement node. Select this checkbox to consider capacity for both ship node and procurement node.
