Reassigning pending order releases from the order details page

You can reassign specific order lines or shipment lines in an order to other available nodes from the order details page or order release details page.

Important:
  • Only those orders that are assigned to a node and are between Released and Shipped status (but are not yet shipped) can be reassigned. You cannot reassign pending orders that are unassigned.
  • It is recommended that you reassign pending orders to other available nodes for adequate reasons only. For example, if the node is down or the order is at risk of missing a service level agreement.

Procedure

  1. Click Orders > Outbound in the menu.
  2. In the Search page, search for the order that contains the order line or shipment line that you want to reassign.
  3. Reassign order releases.
You can reassign from various places.
    • From the Order details page, select the checkboxes next to the order lines that you want to reassign, and then click Reassign pending order release
    • From the Order details page Releases tab, select the checkboxes next to the release numbers that you want to reassign, and then click Reassign pending order release
    • From the Order release search results page, select the checkboxes next to the releases that you want to reassign, and then click Reassign pending order release.
    • From the Order release details page, click Actions > Reassign pending order release.
  4. Determine the method that you want to use to reassign.
    Option Description
Reassign automatically The system chooses the best node available and reassigns the pending records.
Reassign manually You choose a node and manually reassign the pending records to the node. If you selected multiple records, you are reassigning all selected records to this node.
    1. Click Select node.
    2. Select the node that you want to reassign the pending shipments or releases to.
    3. Click OK to confirm the node selection.
Note: To see all nodes across all enterprises, clear the Enterprise field.
Apply backorder After the records are successfully reassigned, items that are included in the records are set as backordered at the original node until a configured time. The default configured time is 12:00 AM in the node's local time. New orders that include any backordered items will not be assigned to the original node during this time. For more information about configuring the time, see the Back ordered inventory rules section.

Use this option when inventory or resources are unavailable at the original node. For example, an outage or natural calamity.

Do not apply backorder Items are not set as backordered and the original node continues to function without change.

Use this option for scenarios where inventory is available and the node can continue fulfilling orders. For example, an item is pending pick up at node1 but the customer now wants to change to pick up at node2.

  5. Click Reassign.

To reassign shipment lines,

  1. Go to the Shipments tab.
  2. Select the shipments that you want to reassign.
  3. Click Reassign pending shipments.
  4. Click Reassign. The pending shipments are automatically reassigned.
  5. Some actions might take longer than others to complete. To view the most updated information, you can click the table refresh button (image) on the Order summary page.

When an order or order line is on hold, there is an icon (Holds icon) to indicate the hold. The icon is shown on the order details summary panel for orders on hold, or the order line details summary panel and order details order lines table for order lines on hold.

Results

The original release is canceled. The associated order lines are reassigned to other available nodes. The order repeats the schedule and release process to create a new release. It might take a few minutes for the system to complete the reassignment. You can check the Orders page to verify that the releases are reassigned. If any of the releases cannot be reassigned, you see an error message with the reason.
