Overview of the Operational Reporting component

Using the Operational Reporting component, you can explore and analyze a multi-enterprise order, inventory, or catalog data. You can then identify performance trends and make consistent, coordinated decisions to strengthen your extended enterprise and value chain relationships.

The Operational Reporting component is an optional component, providing powerful analytic and performance metrics that interface with the Sterling™ Order Management System data set.

The Operational Reporting component integrates with IBM® Cognos® Analytics, the web-enabled client-side reporting tool used for creating and managing ad-hoc and scheduled reports.

In addition to running and authoring reports in Cognos analytics, you also have access to the following components:
  • Cognos Framework Manager for metadata modeling.
  • Analysis Studio for multidimensional analysis and exploration of large data sources.
  • Cognos Event Studio for creating and managing agents that monitor data and perform tasks when the data meets predefined thresholds.
Note: A user who belongs to the BI_USER user group does not have access to Cognos Event Studio, but BI_AUTHOR group users have access to this component.
  • Cognos Query Studio for exploring, analyzing, and comparing dimensional data to help you answer business questions.
  • Cognos Workspace for providing a bridge between using IBM Cognos Analytics to discover a business problem and acting to resolve it.
For more information about these components, see the BI Components documentation.
The Operational Reporting component is delivered with the following:
  • Data Model
  • Sample Reports

The Data Model provided with Operational Reporting is the base for creating reports and queries. The Operational Reporting Data Model is a metadata model created by using the IBM Cognos Framework Manager. This Data Model is used to build Cognos 8 reports.

To access the Cognos Reporting solution from Sterling Business Center user interface, log in and select Launch Business Intelligence from any one of the Products, Pricing, Customer, or Inventory tabs.
