Extending reports

This topic provides details on creating new reports and extending sample reports.

Creating new reports

The following guidelines should be followed when creating a new report:

  • Never make changes to the Sterling™ Business Intelligence shared directory, or add or modify reports within it. From release to release, Sterling Order Management System may provide new deployment files. These new files supersede the previously released files in the shared directory.
  • All new reports should be added to the new directory, and any changes to the data model (for example, new or modified query subjects) must be made in a sub-folder in the shared directory.
To create a new report:
  1. Click on New.
  2. Select a template for the report from the dialogue box.
  3. To attach the model to the new report, select data and click on + icon to add a data source.
  4. Browse to the model SMCF-Analytics and press Open. The reports directory is displayed.
For more information, see Creating a report.

Extending sample reports

The following rules should be followed when extending a sample report:

  • You cannot directly modify application-provided sample reports that are stored in a shared directory. If you want to modify these reports, you need to make a copy of these reports and store them in a separate folder. You can then edit the copy and upload custom versions of the model.
  • The sample reports provided are designed to be run with low data volumes. These application-provided sample reports are not translated as a result of installing the language pack. However, you can localize these reports yourself.
Note: Sample reports do not include any history tables. If you want to generate a report from history tables, then make a copy of the sample report and edit it or create a new custom report.
