Accessing IBM Sterling Order Management System applications
Access to IBM Sterling® Order Management System applications like Sterling™ Store Engagement, Sterling Call Center, or Application Console is configured by using Client
Authentication. Client Authentication is a process by which users/clients securely access any
services from a server by exchanging digital certificates.
To access Sterling Order Management System applications or services you must configure the client with an SSL/TLS client certificate that is generated by using Self Service. These SSL/TLS certificates are specific for each user and each device. Using the SSL/TLS certificates allows only authorized users to access the OMS applications or services deployed on IBM Cloud.
SSL/TLS certificates must be configured for each of the following:
To access the application in the Internet Explorer browser, ensure that the emulation is
set to either 11 or anything above 10. To set up the emulation, complete the following steps.- For applications that are accessed by using a browser, the user must apply the certificate to the browser.
- For an external client system that connects to the Sterling Order Management System servers.
- In Internet Explorer, press the F12 key, log in to the application, and then open Developer tools.
- Click Emulation and select the document mode as 11 or any above 10.
Do not close the Developer tools, if already open. Let it run in the background.
You can import client certificates in the browser and can use the MQ certificates to connect to the IBM MQ server.
Important: Client authentication verifies only if the user who is trying to access an
Sterling Order Management System service is authorized to access the applications or services. Once
the client authentication is successful, the user must log in to the Sterling Order Management System
system by using the authentication mechanism configured in the Sterling Order Management System
environment.
