Changing node capacity
Node capacity refers to the capacity of a node to fulfill orders. Standard capacity for a node is its normal capacity that is configured for each day of the week. You configure a weekly capacity and set the effective date range. You can also override standard capacity for a day or for a few days to cope with situations such as the holiday season or bad weather that might adversely affect the standard capacity of the node.
Procedure
- Log in to Order Hub.
- Click Nodes and capacity > Nodes from the menu.
-
Enter search criteria.
- To view all nodes, leave all fields blank.
- You can change the Search by option to show different fields based on what you want to search.
- You can click Customize search criteria to modify search fields that display on the page.
- You can click Save search to save the search criteria for future use. After you save, you can reload by clicking Saved searches at the top of the page and select your saved search.
-
Select the checkbox next to the node and then click Change
capacity.
Ensure that you are selecting a node that is associated with a resource pool where you can change capacity. If a value (even 0) exists in either Ship capacity, Pickup capacity, or Total capacity columns, then the node is associated with a resource pool.Note:To create a resource pool, see Create a resource pool .
- If Ship capacity, Pickup capacity, and Total capacity columns all contain a dash (-), then the node is not associated with a resource pool. Therefore, no capacity. For more information, see Create a resource pool .
- If both Ship capacity and Pickup capacity contain a dash (-), but a value exists in the Total capacity column, then the node uses a shared resource pool and shares capacity.
- If both Ship capacity and Pickup capacity contain values, but Total capacity contains a dash (-), then the node is associated with resource pools that use different capacity units of measure. Therefore the system cannot calculate the total capacity.
Trouble: If you do not have access to the page, see You do not have permission to view the content or actions on this page. - On the Change capacity page, select a Resource pool (Ship or Pickup) to update capacity for that specific fulfillment method.
-
Change capacity as needed.
Note:
- The capacity unit of measure is determined by the resource pools that are associated with the node. View the Summary panel to verify the capacity unit of measure.
- A cell can be empty for one of the following reasons:
- The day is a working day but does not have a configured standard capacity. Go to the Standard capacity tab to create a date range that includes this date.
- The day is configured as a non-working day. For information about how to configure non-working days, see Creating an exception for a particular calendar day.
- Standard capacity
- Standard capacity is the normal fulfillment capacity that is configured for the node. For
example, you can set a date range that starts from 31 October and ends on 31 December. Then, set
standard capacity to 100 units every day Monday to Sunday for this date range.
- In the Date range field, choose or create a date range when you want the
capacity to be effective. You can also delete a date range by choosing the range and then clicking
the trash can icon (
).
- Start and end dates are inclusive.
- Date ranges cannot overlap.
- In the Capacity for selected date range section, specify the capacity weekly schedule. To set the same capacity value for every day, you can simply enter the number in the Week column.
- To change the effective date range, update the dates that are beside the Capacity for selected date range title.
- Click Save.
- In the Date range field, choose or create a date range when you want the
capacity to be effective. You can also delete a date range by choosing the range and then clicking
the trash can icon (
- Override capacity
- Override the standard capacity for specific days to cope with short term situations. For
example, increase capacity around holidays or decrease capacity due to bad weather or issues at the node.
- Toggle between Week or Month to find the dates where you want to override capacity. In the Month view, if you have multiple shifts, you can use the drop down menu beside the Week|Month toggle to view the capacity for different shifts.
- Select the checkbox for the dates that you want to override.
- Click Override capacity.
- Update the capacity value and select the shifts where you want to apply the changes.
- Click Save.
- The Available value in the Override capacity table is the remaining available capacity after consumption.
