Deleting an instruction from an item

You can delete instructions that were manually added or instructions that were added from the existing instruction codes.

About this task

When you delete an instruction that is manually added to an item, the instruction is permanently deleted and cannot be retrieved. However, when you delete an instruction that was added from the existing instruction codes, the instruction is only dissociated from the item and not deleted permanently.

Procedure

  1. Go to the Instructions screen by completing the following steps:
    1. Log in to Sterling™ Business Center as an Item Administrator. The home page is displayed.
    2. Click the Products tab.
    3. In the Catalog dashlet, click Find Item. The Item Search screen opens.
    4. Enter the search criteria and click Search.
      Alternatively, to narrow down the list of items displayed, use either the Basic Search or the Advanced Search option. The list of available items is displayed.
    5. In the Items panel, click the Item ID hyperlink. The Primary Information screen is displayed. Alternatively, double-click the row that contains the item ID.
    6. In the Related Tasks panel, click Manage Instructions. The Instructions screen is displayed.
  2. From the Manage Instructions for type drop-down list, select an instruction type to view all the instructions pertaining to the selected instruction type. The list displays all the configured item instruction types.
  3. In the Instruction panel of the Item Instructions screen, complete the following steps:
    1. Select the instruction that you want to remove from the item.
    2. The row is highlighted and the Details panel is enabled. Click Delete.
    3. A confirmation dialog opens. Click Yes to remove the selected instruction from the list.

      The instruction is deleted for the item.
