Containers

Catalog Management provides the capability to manage containers that can hold items.

Within Catalog Management, containers are defined as items for a catalog organization and are available to all the organizations sharing that catalog organization. By defining containers as items, containers can be managed in the same ways that items can. Like other items, containers can consist of components, and can be kit items.

Containerization is a process that assigns items to containers based on the algorithms defined in the corresponding organization. Defining a container involves defining one or more of the following attributes that are used in containerization:

  • Physical characteristics, such the container’s volume and the weight that it can hold.
  • Container capacity based on item classification
  • Containerization categories
  • Buyer of the items being containerized
