Add a node and define the node details of an item

You can add a node to an item, and then define the node-specific details for the item. The details you assign at the node level override any of the associated attributes that may have been defined for an item when an order containing that item is released to the node.

You can add a node and define the node details of an item from the Item Nodes screen.

To add a node and define the node details of an item:

Procedure

  1. Navigate to the Item Nodes screen. To navigate to the Item Nodes screen, perform the following steps:
    1. Log in to Sterling™ Business Center as an Item Administrator.
    2. The application home page is displayed. Click the Products tab.
    3. From the Products home page, click Find Item in the Catalog dashlet.
    4. From the Item Search screen that is displayed, enter the search criteria, and then click Search to view a list of all the available items. Alternatively, use either the Basic Search or the Advanced Search option to narrow down the list of items displayed.
    5. In the Items panel that is displayed, click the Item ID hyperlink. Alternatively, double-click the row containing the Item ID.
    6. The Primary Information screen is displayed. In the Related Task panel, click Manage Node Information under the Fulfillment Information area.

      The Item Nodes screen is displayed.

  2. In the Item Nodes panel that is displayed, click Add.
  3. The Basic Node Search dialog box is displayed. Perform the following steps:
    1. Enter the search criteria, click Search.
    2. From the Nodes panel that is displayed, select a node. The node list displays all the available Ship Nodes.
    3. Click Save.

      The node is displayed in the Nodes panel.

  4. In the Nodes panel, select the check box adjacent the node whose details you want to define.
  5. The Details panel is displayed. Perform the following steps:
    1. In the Storage Type box, enter the storage type for the item. The storage type indicates any special attributes of the item that may require it to be stored at a certain location or in a particular manner in a warehouse. For example, perishable items must be stored only in cold storage.
    2. In the Picking Type box, enter the type of picking value for the item. The picking type indicates how the item must be retrieved from its storage location.
    3. In the Velocity Code box, enter the velocity code value for the item. The velocity code indicates the item's turnover rate in a warehouse.
    4. Select the Operational Configuration Complete check box if the operational configuration of a specific node is complete.

      Note: The Node field is displayed as read-only.

  6. In the Item Nodes screen, click Save.

    The node is added, and the node details are also defined.
