Assign a usage to an attribute in a classification
You can assign a usage to an attribute in a classification that has been assigned the classification purpose of either Specifications, Searchable Attributes, or Item with Variations.

To assign a usage to an attribute in a classification:
Procedure
- Navigate to the Classification
Management screen. To navigate to the Classification Management screen,
perform the following steps:
- Log in to Sterling™ Business Center as an Item Administrator.
- The application home page is displayed. Click the Products tab.
- From the Products home page, click Manage Classifications in the Catalog dashlet.
- The Classification List screen is displayed. Click the Classification ID hyperlink corresponding to the classification from which you want to assign a usage.
- From the Classification Hierarchy tree that is displayed,
select the corresponding classification value.
The Classification Management screen is displayed.
- In the Related Tasks panel, click Manage Attribute Assignment.
- The Attributes panel is displayed. Select the check box adjacent the attribute to which you want to assign a usage.
- The details of the attribute are displayed.
Under Usages, select the following check boxes:
- Specification - Select this check box to specify that this attribute is displayed as an specification on the Web channel application. And, select the Is Key Attribute check box to make the item attribute a key attribute.
- For Print - Select this check box to specify that the attribute is to be printed in the quote proposal, for the items belonging to this category.
- Searchable Attributes - Select this check box to specify that this attribute is used for searches. And, select the Is Key Attribute check box to make the item attribute a key attribute.
- Item Variation Attributes - Select this
check box to specify that this attribute is used to define Items with
Variations. And, select the Is Key Attribute check box to make
the item attribute a key attribute. Note: These check boxes are displayed based on the classification purpose assigned to the classification. For example, if you have assigned the Distinct Attributes classification purpose to the classification, the Distinct Attributes check box is displayed under Usages.
- Click Save.
The usage is assigned to the attribute.
