Expected ship date for product procurement

When procuring product, the Expected Ship Date (ESD) of the order considers the procuring node's receiving calendar, shipping calendar, receipt processing time, and transfer schedules with procurement nodes.

For example, to calculate the Expected Shipment Date from Boston for an item that is procured from the Nashua Warehouse, as shown in Figure 1, assume the following conditions:

  • The Boston Warehouse and Nashua Warehouse use the transfer schedule that is described in example 2 of Pre-defined transfer schedule between nodes.
  • The current date is 9 PM Sunday 10/28/03.
  • Receipt processing time at Boston Warehouse is 3 hours.
  • Receiving calendar at Boston Warehouse is Monday through Friday, 5 AM to 1 PM.
  • Shipping calendar at Boston Warehouse is Monday through Friday, 2 PM to 11 PM.

Sterling Order Management System uses the following logic to calculate the Expected Shipment Date to be Tuesday 10/30/03 at 2 PM:

  • Based on the transfer schedule and the current date, the item arrives at the Boston Warehouse on Monday 10/29/03 at 2 PM.
  • The expected receiving date at the Boston Warehouse is Tuesday 10/30/03 at 5:00 AM. (Based on the receiving calendar, the Boston Warehouse receives product Monday through Friday between 5 AM to 1 PM.) Thus, if the product arrives at the Boston Warehouse at 2 PM Monday, 10/29/03, the Boston Warehouse starts work at 5 AM Tuesday, based on the Boston receiving calendar.
  • The expected receipt (complete) date at the Boston Warehouse is Tuesday 10/30/03 at 8:00 AM (5:00 AM+ 3 hours receipt processing time). The receipt processing time is added based on the working hours of the receiving calendar of the Boston Warehouse.
  • The expected shipping date from the Boston Warehouse is Tuesday at 2:00 PM (Based on shipping calendar and assuming 'End of Shift' is not selected, the Boston Warehouse ships Monday through Friday between 2 PM and 11 PM.).

Expected receiving date and expected receipt date are not stored in the database; they are used only for this example.
