Creating alert rules
You can define alert rules to generate alerts that are related to sales orders or outbound shipments.
As orders move through the fulfillment process, they go through various steps corresponding to a
status in the order management system. You can identify certain order or shipment statuses that
represent important milestones in the fulfillment process. By creating an alert, you can ensure that
someone is alerted when the fulfillment process is running behind schedule and presents a risk to
the timely fulfillment of an order. For example:
- You can create a rule to be alerted if an order does not reach Shipped status 1 hour after expected ship date.
- You can create a rule to be alerted if a shipment does not reach the Ready for customer status for Store pickup shipments 1 hour before the expected ship date.
Before you begin
- If you see the message
"Contact an administrator to enable this feature"
, see Contact your administrator to enable this feature. - Order and shipment monitors must be enabled.
System administrators with access to Applications Manager and Self Service can configure and enable the monitors. If the monitors are not running, a message is displayed in Order Hub on the Alert rules page. For example,
For more information, see Enabling monitors for order and shipment alerts.Order and shipment alerts will not be triggered because the order and shipment monitors are not enabled. Contact your administrator to enable the monitors.
