Data planning with sample data and real data

When you set up the DTK for the product preview, you need to determine whether to use sample data or real data. Initially, setting up the DTK to use sample data is quicker and minimizes risks. Setting up the DTK to use real data increases the realism and relevance of the product.

The technical preview for advanced B2B capabilities is available as a developer toolkit (DTK). Throughout this preview program, the API integration is under development. Not all advanced B2B features in the account dashboard can support real data integration. You can view the advanced B2B features that are on the account dashboard by using either sample data or real data, depending on the feature. All KPIs are visible with sample data. For a list of the KPIs that support real data integration, see What's new for advanced B2B capabilities.

The current state of what we support in this technical preview release for real versus sample data is found in the table.

Planning to use sample data

When you use sample data, you can see all advanced B2B capabilities. Setup and testing are quicker. Using sample data reduces the risk of errors by providing a controlled environment. Sample data might not accurately represent reality or be relevant to your business.

Planning to use real data

When you use real data, you are only able to see those KPIs that support real data integration. Setup and testing can take more time. Using real data provides a more realistic demonstration of the product capabilities and shows the true value and potential impact of the B2B features.
