Installing the JDK and your application server
You can use the WebSphere Application Server Liberty 18.0.0.2 that is provided as part of
your Sterling Order Management System Software purchase. Alternatively, you can use other application servers as specified in the
System Requirements.
If you are using the WebSphere Application Server, ensure that you install the fix pack 11 (or later) for WAS V 8.5.5. Fix packs are available at IBM® Fix Central.
Before installing your application server, check the System Requirements on the IBM Support Portal to make sure you have the applicable hardware and software versions installed.
Install your application server according to the vendor instructions.
Installing the Java Development Kit (JDK)
You should install the Java™ Development Kit (JDK) that is
shipped with your application server, unless otherwise specified in the System Requirements on the
IBM Support Portal. When upgrading the JDK,
be sure to set the correct JAVA_HOME environment variable and update the PATH.
Note: Your JDK should
reside in a directory structure with no spaces in the pathname. When Sterling Order Management System Software
prompts for the location of
the JDK, it requires a pathname with no spaces, such as C:\Java\jdk1.8, rather than C:\Program
Files\Java\jdk1.8.
