Frequently asked questions (FAQs)

Find answers to frequently asked questions that are related to Sterling Order Management System Software.

Can I install the language packs after my initial installation?
Yes. Return to the installation flow for your licensed products and reenter the process there. Remember, the process includes rebuilding and redeploying.
In the IBM® Documentation, can I view the content in my local language?
IBM Documentation is available in many languages and can show the content where translated. You can set your language preference in IBM Documentation by selecting the appropriate language. For example:
  • If you access IBM Documentation within the application, the translated topics are displayed in the language that is identified by the logged in locale of the user.
  • If you access IBM Documentation from outside of the application. For example, when you type the URL for the help system in any supported browser, the translated topics are displayed in the language that is identified by the browser setting.
  • If a translated version does not exist, the content is by default that is displayed in English.
What is the factory setup data, and how do I load it?
Factory setup data includes configuration data, such as the default pipeline definitions, common codes, service definitions, rules, error codes, and other supplied configuration data. The database must contain the appropriate configuration data before you can build the EAR file and deploy the application. You can either load the database with the supplied configurations, use an existing database that already contains the required configurations, or populate a new database with the required configurations.
What are localized factory setups?
Localized factory setups are configuration data that supports deploying the application in a language other than English. If you install a language pack, you must also load the factory setups for that language. This way, the database includes default pipeline definitions, common codes, service definitions, rules, error codes, and other configurations that are translated into the language you choose and that support the currency, date and time formats, and other conventions of that language.
If I have license for multiple optional components, how do I install them?
You need not install the optional components individually. The installation and deployment is complete along with the installation of Sterling Order Management System Software.
Why should I install the reference implementation?
Reference implementation is a sample implementation and is useful, if you are getting started with Sterling Order Management System Software and any of the optional components. For more information, see Reference implementation.
How often do I build and deploy the EAR?
You can wait to build and deploy on the server until you have installed all of the products you licensed. However, you can use other methods. For example, if you are installing Sterling Order Management System Software with Sterling Store Engagement (Legacy) optional component, you can stop at installing, building, and deploying Sterling Order Management System Software. You might want to build and deploy it to a test or staging environment, and then build and deploy it to Production later. You might wait a few days or weeks to install the Sterling Store Engagement (Legacy) optional component, at which point you need to build and deploy again.
How often do I create the resource.jar?
Whenever you complete factory setup, install language packs, change the database, or change property files, ensure to create or rebuild the resource jar after you complete the factory setup for all or individual optional components.
