Installing fix packs using command line on Windows, UNIX, or Linux

You can install fix packs by using the command line on Windows, UNIX, or Linux.

Before you begin

  • When you install the latest fix pack, the fix pack factory setup is automatically installed.
  • Download the fix pack from the IBM® Fix Central and save it in a temporary location.

About this task

You can install fix packs by using the IBM Installation Manager command line (imcl) installation command. The imcl command provides a text-based (non-GUI) interface.

Procedure

  1. Run the following command to start the IBM Installation Manager:
    • Windows <IM_INSTALL_DIR>\eclipse\tools\imcl -consoleMode
    • UNIXLINUX<IM_INSTALL_DIR>/eclipse/tools/imcl -consoleMode
    Here,
    <IM_INSTALL_DIR>
    Indicates the directory where the IBM Installation Manager is installed.
  2. If you have not already added the fix pack installation package location to the IBM Installation Manager, perform the following steps. Otherwise, skip to Step 3.
    1. Type P to select Preferences and press Enter.
    2. Type 1 to select Repositories and press Enter.
    3. Type D to select Add Repository and press Enter.
    4. Enter the location of the repository location and press Enter.
    5. Type A to apply the changes and return to Preferences and press Enter.
    6. Type R to return to the main menu and press Enter.
  3. Complete the following steps to install the application:
    1. Type 1 to install and press Enter. If you are upgrading to the latest version of the fix pack like fix pack 2 or above, type 2 to upgrade and press Enter.
    2. Type the number associated with the fix pack installation package and press Enter.
    3. Type 1 to choose the version and press Enter.
    4. Type N and press Enter.
    5. Type M to change the location where fix pack installation package is installed, using the IBM Installation Manager.
    6. Enter the location where the application is installed and press Enter.
    7. Type N and press Enter.
      Note: The installer validates the version of the application. The validation goes through only if the application version is greater than or equal to the current release.
    8. Type the feature number of the application you want to install and press Enter.
    9. Type N and press Enter.
    10. Type I to install and press Enter. A progress indicator shows the percentage of installation completed.
    11. After the installation is complete, the installation status is displayed.
