Archive Service

Archiving data reduces the primary storage consumption and related costs, which result in increased disk space, improved query execution time, and improved system performance.

The Archive Service component of Order Service provides a repository to store old and purged orders from Sterling™ Order Management System Software. The data that is stored for an order document is determined by Sterling Order Management System Software as part of the archive operation. Considering the large size of an order document, the Archive Service is designed to facilitate data sent in batches with preconfigured part names and batch sizes. As part of the archive operation in Sterling Order Management System Software, the order data is orchestrated such that each request contains an optimal data size to transfer and store data. The sequence of archiving requests must be such that all hang-off and custom entities that are related to Order are archived first. Eventually, the 'Order' entity is pushed to Archive Service. When the 'Order' entity is archived, it also updates Order Service to indicate that the order document is archived.
