Modify a customer entitlement rule

You can modify a customer entitlement rule to suit your needs as they change over time.

To modify a customer entitlement rule:

Procedure

  1. Navigate to the Customer Entitlement Search screen. To navigate to the Customer Entitlement Search screen, perform the following steps:
    1. Log in to Sterling Business Center as an Item Administrator.
    2. The application home page is displayed. Click the Products tab.
    3. From the Products home page, click Find Entitlement from the Catalog dashlet.

      The Customer Entitlement Search screen is displayed.

  2. Enter the search criteria, and click Search to view a list of all the available entitlements. Alternatively, use either the Basic Search or the Advanced Search option to narrow down the list of entitlements displayed.
  3. The search results are displayed in the Entitlements panel. Click the Entitlement ID hyperlink corresponding to the entitlement for which you want to manage a rule. Alternatively, double-click the row containing the corresponding Entitlement ID.

    Start with Select either of the following options:
    • A list of all items present in the catalog: Select this radio button to create the rule including all the items in the corresponding catalog.
    • An empty list of items: Select this radio button to create the rule excluding all the items in the corresponding catalog.
    Inclusions and Exclusions
    1. Enter a Sequence* number for the rule. Ensure that you specify a unique sequence for the rules.
    2. Select either of the following Action* options:
      • Include: Select this radio button to include the items in the entitlement.
      • Exclude: Select this radio button to exclude the items in the entitlement.
    3. Select one of the following Identification Type* options:
      • Category: Select this radio button to either include or exclude all the items that are associated with a certain category in the entitlement. Click Search icon to search for a category to which the items are associated. The Tree panel is displayed. Select the required category and click Select. The selected category is displayed in the box.
      • Item List: Select this radio button to either include or exclude specific items in the entitlement. The Items panel is displayed. Click Add Items to add Item IDs corresponding to items that you want to either include or exclude from the entitlement. The Basic Item Search dialog box is displayed. Enter the search criteria, and click Search. Alternatively, use either the Basic Search or the Advanced Search option to narrow down the list of entitlements displayed. In the Items panel that is displayed, select the check box adjacent to the Item ID that you want to add, and click Select. The selected Item IDs are added to the list in the Items panel. To remove an item from the Items panel list, select the check box adjacent the Item ID you want to remove, and click Remove.
        Note: If you have added more than 15 items to the Items panel list, a View More link is displayed. Click the View More link to view the complete list of items in the Entitlement Rule Detail Items dialog box. You can Add or Remove items from the list.
        • To add an item, click Add. In the Item Search dialog box that is displayed, enter the search criteria and click Search. A list of items that matches the search criteria is displayed. Select the item that you want to add to the list, and click Save. The new item (or items) is added to the list.
        • To remove an item from the list, select the check box adjacent the Item ID you want to remove, and click Remove. Alternatively, you can use the Find item(s) box to filter the list of items listed in Entitlement Rule Detail Items dialog box. Enter the complete or partial identifier of the item you want to remove, and click Go icon. The list of the items matching the search criteria is displayed. Select the item you want to remove, and click Remove.
     
    • Item with attribute values: Select this radio button to either include or exclude all the items that have a specific value for the item attribute that you select, in the entitlement. A look up widget is displayed. Click to search icon to search for an item attribute. The Select Attribute panel is displayed. Select the required attribute.
      In the Specify Value For area, you can perform the following to assign an attribute value depending on the data type:
      1. If it is a text data type, enter the new value in the respective field.
        Note: When the number of allowed values defined for a text attribute is less than or equal to 30, a drop-down list is displayed. If the number of text attribute value exceeds 30, the drop-down list is replaced by a text box with a search icon. You can use this search icon to search for a text attribute value. When you click the search icon, the Allowed Values Search dialog box is displayed. Enter the text attribute value or the text attribute value description to search for a text attribute value, and click Search. A list of allowed values that matches your search criteria is displayed. Select the required text attribute value, and click Select. Use delete icon adjacent to the search icon to clear the existing text attribute value.
      2. If it is a Boolean data type, select or clear the respective check box.
      3. If it is a number data type, enter the new value in the respective field. Click Select in the Select Attribute panel. The selected attribute and its value are displayed in the row containing the rule.

      If the multiple values are allowed for the attribute, click the Modify hyperlink. In the Select Multi Attribute Values dialog box that is displayed, perform the following steps:

      1. Click add icon to add another value.
      2. From the drop-down list that is displayed, select the required value.
      3. To add multiple values, repeat step i through step ii.
      4. Click Select. The selected values are displayed in the Values box in the Specify Value For area.
      Note: Although there are three basic data types, the way each of these is displayed depends on how the attributes are configured in the Attribute Management. For example, for a number data type the values may be listed as a drop-down list, instead of a text box.

    To add another rule, click add icon. In the new row that is added, define the Sequence*, Action*Identification Type*, and Value* for the new rule.

  4. In the Customer Entitlement screen, click Save.
