Change the configuration model of a configurable or preconfigured item

You can change the configuration model of a configurable or preconfigured item.

1. Navigate to the Components screen. To navigate to the Components screen, perform the following steps:
   1. Log in to Sterling Business Center as an Item Administrator.
   2. The application home page is displayed. Click the Products tab.
   3. From the Products home page, click Find Item in the Catalog dashlet.
   4. From the Item Search screen that is displayed, enter the search criteria, and then click Search to view a list of all the available items. Alternatively, use either the Basic Search or the Advanced Search option to narrow down the list of items displayed.
   5. In the Items panel that is displayed, click the Item ID hyperlink. Alternatively, double-click the row containing the Item ID.
   6. The Primary Information screen is displayed. In the Related Tasks panel, click Manage Components.

      The Components screen is displayed.

2. The Components panel is displayed, with the configuration model populated in the Configuration Model* box. Click the Search icon adjacent the Configuration Model* box to search for the model you want to use.
3. A message asking you for confirmation is displayed. Click Yes to change the model.
4. The Configuration Model dialog box is displayed. In the Model Groups tree, which displays only the models specific to your locale, navigate to the model you want to use and click Select.

   The selected model is displayed in the Configuration Model* box.

   Notes:

   • If a new model is associated to the configurable item, the earlier configurations are no longer applicable to the item.
   • If a new model is associated to the preconfigured item, the earlier preconfigurations are no longer applicable to the item. You must also select the IsPreconfigured check box and define a new preconfiguration for the newly selected model.
5. Click Save.
   Note: * indicates that the field is mandatory.
