Associate a supersession item to an item
You can set up a supersession association for an item to indicate that the item can be superseded by one or more items.
About this task
When the effective date of an item becomes obsolete, the original item is automatically replaced by the item that is associated to supersede the original item. For example, you can configure item A to be superseded by item B, which in turn can be superseded by item C; however, you cannot specify that both items B and C should directly supersede item A.
When you are configuring a supersession for an item, it is a good practice to specify items that are similar and are comparably-priced to the item that is being superseded.
You can associate a supersession item to an item from the Item Association screen.
- You cannot supersede tag-controlled items.
- A parent bundle item type cannot have an individual item as a supersession item.
